Pizza Box Sizes - A Buyer’s Guide | Top 5 Brands Across USA

Pizza Box Sizes: A Buyer's Guide The five largest US pizza chains use round pizzas from 6 to 16 inches. The most common size is the 14-inch Large. This guide gives these sizes and the box sizes that fit them. This guide is for US buyers of pizza boxes. All dimensions are in inches. A pizza box size is the diameter of the pizza that it holds. For example, a 14-inch box holds a 14-inch pizza. The inner dimensions of these cardboard boxes are slightly larger than the pizza. Pizza box dimensions are measured as interior length × width × depth.  The standard sizing rule is that a pizza box is 0.5 to 1 inch wider than the pizza’s diameter and 1.5 to 4 inches deep, depending on crust style. Most packaging suppliers sell boxes in even-inch increments (10", 12", 14", 16", 18", 20"), so restaurants usually choose the next standard size above the pizza diameter. So let’s dive in to explore more about pizza box sizes.  The table below summarizes the standard pizza box sizes used by pizzerias, delivery chains and packaging manufacturers. Measure the diameter of each pizza size that you sell. Select a box with the same nominal size as the pizza. Make sure that the inner dimensions of the box are slightly larger than the pizza. Order the 14-inch box in the largest quantity. It is the most common size. Order the 6-inch box only if you sell a 6-inch pizza. Get a sample box from the supplier before a large order. Put a pizza in the sample box. Make sure that the lid does not touch the toppings. Notes and Limits Values with an asterisk (*) are estimates. Do not use them as official chain data. Some local stores sell sizes that are not on the national menu. The Little Caesars Deep Dish pizza is rectangular. A round box does not fit it. Chains can change their menus. Check the current menu before a large order. In conclusion, when finding pizza box sizes this buyer’s guide will give you enough context to make an informed decision.
