Should I measure the product or the existing box?

Measure the product and the actual pack-out first. An existing box may have extra clearance, different board thickness, or a construction that does not match your new format.

What if my product is an unusual shape?

Measure the maximum length, width, and height, then provide photos or a sketch. A sample or structural review is especially useful for irregular shapes.

Can the packaging supplier help with sizing?

Yes. Provide accurate product information and explain the packing and shipping conditions. The supplier can then recommend a starting structure, prepare a dieline, and identify questions to test before production.

Should I include the shipping carton in the measurement?

Include every component that will be inside the custom box. If the custom box itself will be packed inside a larger outer carton, provide that information separately for freight planning.
